AdCents - How to Make Your Advertising More Effective

Introducing AdCents.

Here you’ll find relevant news, useful information, Blumisms (My version of Buffetisms), and answers to your questions that have come about through my years in advertising, travels and travails, as well as insights that I’ve cobbled together as a result of working with clients.

The name ADcents is derived from the primary goal of this new communication tool: offering the best advice relating to advertising and marketing in creating value that generates a return on investments for all parties concerned. In other words, information you can use to make more money and hopefully in return, make me money.

Blumism 1, “You can’t squeeze blood from a stone, but you can bloody someone up pretty good to get what you need.” especially when it comes to negotiating traditional media placement.

This was proven once again on a recent visit to a client in the mid west. While I was there, we were able to renegotiate a minimum of a 22% reduction in the cost of their print media budget, though I was initially informed that the placement fees were “in stone.” It turns out that a little forceful persuasion can add up. We estimate the initial savings to be $30,000 a year. It's amazing how negotiating from the publisher's perspective, not to lose an account and possibly gain others in a similar field, "monkey see monkey do", Rate Cards become reference tools.

What's your question?
